Windham Campbell Festival Returns to New Haven: Celebrating Literary Excellence

Thursday, August 31, 2023

Yale Conferences & Events (YC&E) is thrilled to be part of the much-anticipated return of the Windham Campbell Festival, running from September 19th to 22nd! This event honors the 2023 Windham Campbell Prize recipients, marking a vibrant celebration of exceptional writers.

The festival pays homage to the enduring legacy of literary enthusiasts Donald Windham and Sandy M. Campbell. Known for their novels, short stories, children’s books, plays, and acclaimed book reviews in publications like Harper’s Magazine, they shared a passion for supporting fellow writers. Their vision culminated in the establishment of an award that offers financial freedom for writers to pursue their creative visions. Windham’s close ties with Yale University, anchored by his trust in the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library to safeguard his papers, led to the creation of this prestigious prize within the university.

The Windham Campbell Festival unfolds over four exciting days, commencing with a lively welcome party featuring a dynamic DJ, food trucks, and electrifying live music—a fitting introduction to the talented 2023 Windham Campbell Prize recipients! As the week progresses, attendees can look forward to captivating conversations, enlightening readings, thought-provoking film screenings, and an array of enriching experiences with the prize winners.

Yale Conferences & Events is honored to assist in organizing the festival. Our team has been diligently securing hotel and transportation accommodations for prize recipients, overseeing the grand tent on Cross Campus throughout the week, and ensuring the seamless execution of festival events in various iconic Yale buildings.

All Windham Campbell Festival events are free and open to the public. You won’t want to miss it!
