“The House” Celebrates 50th Anniversary

Wednesday, May 18, 2022

The Afro-American Cultural Center at Yale, fondly called “the House”, celebrated its 50th anniversary recently with a weekend full of events that YC&E was honored to assist with. The theme of the celebration was “Renaissance & Revolution: Celebrating 50 Years of the Afro-American Cultural Center’s Legacy at Yale & Beyond”. From the Celebration of the Arts, and projections of speakers and awardees onto Beinecke Plaza, to the Bouchet Ball & Awards Ceremony, these events highlighted all that the house has offered to Yale in its last 50 years, with an even brighter future ahead.

Impacting the community in both a meaningful and strategic way is what the house aims to accomplish in creating a sense of inclusion and equity here at Yale. The energy was palpable and something we were so grateful to be a part of. Here’s to the next 50 years!
