Celebrating Native communities at Yale and beyond

Thursday, April 27, 2023

The Yale Powwow on April 22, 2023, was a vibrant celebration of Native cultures, bringing together diverse communities to honor and recognize the rich history and traditions of Native peoples. Yale Conferences and Events was proud to support the event, working alongside the Native American Cultural Center, who chose the poignant theme of “Roots and Regrowth,” marking the first powwow since 2018.

The powwow, held in the Lanman Center at the Payne Whitney Gym, was a welcoming and inclusive event, open to all members of the community. Through dance, song, art, and cuisine, the powwow aimed to deepen connections between Yale students, the public, and the Native communities residing in Connecticut.

The powwow showcased the diversity of Native cultures through a series of performances, with participants adorned in colorful regalia, representing tribes from across the country. YC&E was honored to have assisted with this important event, which provided an opportunity to celebrate and learn from the vibrant and diverse Native cultures around us.
