Celebrating the Class of 2020 in Person

Wednesday, May 18, 2022

Our Yale Conferences & Events team had the honor this past weekend of assisting with the Yale Alumni Ceremony, an in-person ceremony honoring the Class of 2020, which was not able to receive a proper commencement due to the pandemic. This event reminded us how rewarding our jobs can be! It can be hard to take a moment when you are quickly moving from one project to the next, but during the Alumni Ceremony we had a moment to stop and feel the sense of community that made this day happen.

We saw 2020 graduates and their families walking through the gates, filled with emotion, some cheering, some teary-eyed, and some taking it all in. We saw graduates kiss babies on their way in that they didn’t imagine would be in this world when they were initially meant to walk through the gates 2 years ago. We heard cheers and watched confetti fly as schools felt the relief of having gotten to this important step.

All of this, plus the masses of volunteers from all different departments who assisted our teams throughout the day, made us grateful for this community and reminded us what all of the hard work is really for!
