For more than 150 years, the Peabody Museum at Yale has been educating and fascinating visitors with its incredible exhibitions and passion for the natural world. And while many establishments are now opening their doors to in-person guests again, the Peabody Museum will remain closed until 2024 while it undergoes a once-in-a-lifetime renovation.

The renovation will increase exhibition space by 50%, add to research facilities, create a new education center and museum classrooms, and add a 3-story central gallery, to name a few! The Peabody will offer free admission in perpetuity once it reopen in 2024, highlighting its dedication to becoming a more accessible establishment within our community.

Although an in-person visit to the Peabody won’t be possible for some time, you can still explore some of its collections with Peabody@Home. Through this digital resource hub, you can browse over 14 million catalog records and 50,000 microscope slides, enjoy a 360-degree view of 82 minerals and gems, tour its former Great Hall, and so much more. The Peabody also hosts Zoom talks each month that are free and open to the public.

Kudos to the entire Peabody team for their incredible efforts to continue its mission of educating our community, without a physical building!
