A Critical Time for Compassion
There is a growing need in our community. According to the 2025 United Way of Greater New Haven ALICE Report, 30% of households in our region, more than 48,000 families, are classified as ALICE, meaning Asset Limited, Income Constrained, and Employed. These are individuals and families working hard to make ends meet, yet still struggling to afford essentials like housing, food, childcare, and healthcare. When combined with those living below the federal poverty line (more than 20,000 families), nearly half of all households in the Greater New Haven area face financial insecurity.
That is why United Way’s mission is more vital than ever. Through community partnerships, targeted programs, and donor support, United Way helped 88,428 people in 2024–2025, including:
• 42,129 people fed and housed
• 31,301 children supported
• 6,603 individuals provided with financial guidance
In total, more than $10 million was invested locally, with over 4,200 volunteers contributing 10,772 hours of service, proof that collective action truly makes a difference.
