Each October, Berkeley Divinity School at Yale joins its “Quad Partners”, Yale Divinity School and Andover Newton Seminary, for Convocation, a two-day celebration that welcomes alumni back to campus for connection, reflection, and renewal.
This year’s Convocation held special significance as the community honored the retirement of The Very Rev’d Dr. Andrew McGowan, Dean and President of Berkeley Divinity School. The thoughtfully designed reception paid tribute to Dr. McGowan’s lasting impact, leadership, and service to the Yale community.
Over the two-day celebration, attendees enjoyed a full program of events, including the Graduate Network Lunch, Community Eucharist, and lectures exploring themes of pastoral theology and global Christianity. Continuing a long-standing tradition of scholarly depth and international perspective, past Convocation lectures have featured prominent voices such as Vicentia Kgabe, Michael Battle, and Jenny Te Paa Daniel.
Convocation remains a cornerstone of Berkeley’s academic year, an opportunity to reconnect with friends, honor shared history, and celebrate those shaping the future of faith and theological education.
Yale Conferences & Events supported the celebration by managing:
- Tent setup and reception design honoring Dr. McGowan
- Catering and menu coordination for all Convocation events
- Transportation arrangements for attendees
- On-site logistical management
- Floral design and event décor
- Run of show management, including coordination with speakers and AV support
