Director’s Note

Dear friends,

Summer is in full swing at YC&E, and we’re thrilled to welcome back our long-time summer programs to campus! We’re expecting over 8,000 visitors this summer, and none of it would be possible without our amazing summer staff. Made up of college and graduate students from across the country, they ensure a warm and hospitable experience for all our summer programs.

This year, we’re lucky to have a team of over 50 staff members who keep things running smoothly. They prep rooms, check on classrooms, assist housing guests, and handle questions at our 24/7 housing office. You’ll spot them bustling around campus, going the extra mile to make our guests’ stay comfortable. Be sure to give them a friendly wave if you see them!

In July, we’re taking a break from the newsletter, but stay tuned for exciting announcements about new opportunities at YC&E in the coming weeks.

Have a festive and safe Independence Day!

With warm regards,

Jen Zuccaro

Reuniting the Yale School of Medicine graduates

YC&E had the pleasure of assisting with the Yale School of Medicine Reunion Weekend on June 2nd-3rd! We were thrilled to be welcoming back the YSM alumni as they reconnected with classmates and participated in the weekend’s festivities. The alumni had the opportunity to explore the newly updated campus buildings, witnessing the remarkable growth of the medical school program and more. And, of course, what would a reunion weekend be without a delicious BBQ shared with friends and family?

Event Planning Insights

Increasing accessibility for nursing mothers at conferences and events

The Providing Urgent Maternal Protections (PUMP) for Nursing Mothers Act that went into effect in April 2023 has raised awareness for higher accessibility for nursing mothers in the conferences and events industry. With a higher attendance rate of women in virtual events due to the safety and comfort they feel at home, event organizers are focusing on increasing the accessibility, cleanliness, and amount of lactation rooms at conferences and events.

The rise of the virtual interpreter booth

Traditional interpreter booths where an interpreter is stationed at an event and provides interpretations in person at a conference or even have become an alternative as technology advances. Virtual interpreter booths have become a low risk, efficient option for event planners looking to make their conference or event accessible to attendees who may speak different languages.
