Director’s Note

Dear friends,

It’s with a touch of nostalgia that we bid farewell to the summer season. At YC&E, this summer was nothing short of extraordinary, with over 8,000 guests participating in on-campus summer programs over a mere 10 weeks.

This moment offers the perfect opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to our invaluable campus partners. Long after the students departed in May, they dedicated themselves wholeheartedly to ensure a memorable summer experience for our guests. From dining hall workers and custodians to media service technicians, police officers, security personnel, and countless others, we extend our sincere thanks for making this summer a resounding success.

As we shift our focus to the excitement of fall, we welcome the buzz that accompanies a new school year. Within YC&E, a world of new opportunities awaits, including several job openings. We are excited about the continued growth of our team and hope you’ll be a part of it.

Let’s look ahead to the coming academic year with anticipation and enthusiasm. Wishing everyone a successful fall semester!

With warm regards,

Celebrating 8 years of YC&E Program Assistant excellence

YC&E recently hosted its first Program Assistant (PA) Reunion, bringing together past and present PAs to reconnect and discuss their post YC&E experiences. These PAs, integral to our team, gain hands-on hospitality industry experience through this internship program, supporting various on-campus events, and contributing to program management and logistics. During the reunion, we caught up with three former PAs to hear more about their lives after YC&E!

Update to charging sponsored awards for use of the Greenberg Conference Center

Facility rental charges incurred for use of the Greenberg Conference Center (not Betts House), are now allowable on sponsored awards when the terms of the sponsored award and all applicable allowability, allocability, reasonable and necessary conditions have been met. This does not include additional costs that may be incurred for renting the space, such as audiovisual/technology, linens, after-hours custodial, YC&E management fee, and other add-on services.

Empowering veterans through research

For veterans transitioning from military service to civilian life, the journey can be both exhilarating and daunting. However, there’s an initiative at Yale that’s been making a difference in the lives of veteran undergraduates: the Research Experience for Veteran Undergraduate (REVU) summer program. YC&E had the privilege of chatting with REVU’s founders to understand how REVU empowers veterans for success in STEM and beyond.
