Emily Roback showcases Yale’s venue expertise

Our very own Emily Roback, Assistant Director of Venues, recently shared her expertise with a national audience by leading an informational webinar for Unique Venues titled “Four Weeks to Fully Operational: How Yale University Launched a New Event Space—and How You Can Too.”

The presentation spotlighted Yale’s rapid launch of Kline Tower’s new event space in August 2023. Faced with a tight four-week timeline, the YC&E team successfully marketed, opened, and began operating the venue, kicking off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and hosting more than 25 events by the end of the year. This quick turnaround demonstrated how leveraging existing processes and technology can make scaling across multiple venues not only possible but highly effective.

During the session, Emily walked participants through the timeline, operational checklist, marketing strategies, and technology that made the launch a success. Attendees came away with practical takeaways, including how to:

  • Build an opening timeline for new or renovated spaces
  • Use existing processes and technology to scale operations across venues
  • Develop streamlined procedures for guests, clients, and vendors
