Celebrating 20 years of advancing public education

Each summer, Yale Conferences & Events shifts from managing large-scale conferences to supporting residential summer programs and professional development gatherings on campus. Among these is the Yale National Initiative (YNI), a prestigious program that brings K–12 public school teachers from across the country to Yale.

YNI provides an intensive and collaborative environment where these educators, known as Yale National Fellows, work closely with Yale faculty and one another to develop full curricula for their students and home districts. Fellows are grouped by subject area, with Yale faculty serving as seminar leaders, creating an atmosphere that is both rigorous and collegial. This summer, YNI proudly celebrated its 20th anniversary, marking two decades of advancing excellence in public education.

YC&E was honored to support the program by coordinating all aspects of its campus stay, including housing, dining, and classroom spaces. In addition, we planned three networking receptions to give Fellows the opportunity to connect beyond their cohorts:

  • July 7 at Luce Common Room
  • July 10 at Kline 14
  • July 18 at the Garden Room and Patio at Zinc in downtown New Haven

These gatherings offered a relaxed setting with light bites, beer, and wine, as well as sweeping views of New Haven. They provided Fellows with the chance to recharge and build connections outside their academic sessions.
